CALL ON THE MOON
The time has come for introspection, from which a new era will emerge. As individuals and as a society, every action we take from now on should be for the better.
Our visual and auditory experience of the moon was inspired by the deep and unique cultural ties we have to the moon. We illustrated the power and importance of the connection we have with nature by allowing viewers to stay connected with the image and sound of the moon throughout the experience.
Installation
A three-dimensional moon image was projected on a screen, and a sonar sound was produced, searching for communication. The visitors were invited to contact the moon and call loudly into the microphone. As the sound produced lengthened, layers of music were added to it, and the image of the moon grew larger and closer to the viewer.
By calling to the moon continuously, the visitor creates an ongoing connection with it. The closer the moon gets, the louder it sounds. As the visitor lingers or stops calling, the moon shakes and retreats, losing connection.
