Commission
of Inquiry

Immersive Installation
A-Genre Festival
23-30.7.2024, Tmu-na Teatre, TLV

In the ongoing October 7 War, nature has been caught up in dramatic events: fires, habitat destruction, soil contamination, changes in the terrain and river courses, and more. Paradoxically, the land we are fighting for is being destroyed.

In a video, sound, and material installation (20 minutes long) testimonies from the affected areas are presented for a commission of inquiry that will probably never be established, urging us to reflect on the broader implications of human conflicts.

The installation utilizes organic materials collected from the combat zones, serving as evidence for a commission of inquiry that will not be established.

At the center of the space is a sand table with a video projection, surrounded by "engineered nature": a grid of soil cubes and plants from the Gaza envelope region, a hanging branch sculpture, and a smoke room.

Timed lighting floods the space. Visitors wear headphones with 3 sound channels: interviews and testimonies, statistic facts, and recorded nature sounds. At the peak, the table shakes and the sound channels merge, creating a powerful experience that invites reflection on the massive human impact on nature and how we can move on to healing.
